Cartier

Produced in the mid-1980s, this Cartier Santos-Dumont Ultra-Plate ref. 1576 belongs to the generation preceding the Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP). Its rectangular 18-carat yellow gold case measuring 27 × 36 mm is paired with a silvered guilloché dial, Roman numerals, a railway minute track, blued steel hands and a crown set with a sapphire cabochon. It comes with its original 18-carat yellow gold Cartier pin buckle.

It is driven by the Frédéric Piguet 21 calibre, a manual-winding mechanical movement measuring just 1.75 mm thick. Launched in the late 1970s, this calibre long stood as a benchmark among extra-thin mechanical movements and was chosen by several haute horlogerie manufacturers, including Cartier, for their thinnest models.
